Class Schedule
Maxercise requires that all students interested in Mixed Martial Arts, must join our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program. Only students with BJJ rank are allowed in the MMA classes at this time.
While Maxercise has been actively involved with mixed martial arts tournaments for only a few years now, the club's origins and martial arts emphases have always been applicable to those interested in the cultural phenomenon.

GROUND FIGHTING
While striking skill is a necessary and respectable part of the sport, it has been proven time and time again that those with exceptional prowess on the ground have a distinct advantage.  Having the skills to both take the fight to the ground, keep, and finish it there are both more important, and statistically more likely, than trying to maintain a strictly standup fight.

Picture two kids fighting in a schoolyard.  The first thing they try to do is headlock each other and throw to the ground.  We are, by nature, grapplers.  The key is to have the understanding and technique to take that instinctual chaos and form it into a strategic, organized method of control and submission.

From the very first UFC in 1993 the evidence was clear that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, (BJJ), was a dominant force.  While trial and error has evolved the sport to include the need for study in other forms of martial arts, the ground fighting style of BJJ is indeliby marked as a necessary foundation for anyone interested in MMA.  Maxercise offers both gi and no-gi classes in BJJ and the competition teams have been very successful at regional, national, and international level events.

AND EVERYTHING ELSE
Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, combined with the stand up techniques of Muay Thai, the strength training and conditioning of kettlebells, and both the takedowns and groundwork of Judo, Maxercise offers an exceptionally well-rounded cadre of instruction for those so dedicated.  See our classes and programs page for an overview of all Maxercise has to offer.

BENEFITS
Those not interested in actually getting in a ring someday may reap incredible benefits from training like they are.  The variety of classes offered at the academy give students the chance to be well prepared for the potential risks of every day life. Live sparring prepares one for the intensity of a chance physical encounter while in a controlled environment posing little risk.  The self defense applications are enormous for any of our martial arts programs.

As almost a fringe benefit to all this, regular training will inevitably get one in better shape, boosting confidence on several levels.  Most people involved with mixed martial arts training across the US have little to no interest in ever fighting an MMA event.  Instead, they are rewarded with the greater strength and confidence that comes with knowledge and preparation.
